IAC 2007 Team Signup!!

Posted by: endgegner (Thu, 08 Feb 2007 20:00:17Z)

It's time to start the signups for the 2007 International Assault Cup.

Players must sign up for only one country which they are either living in or were born in. For example: Someone born in Argentina now living in Cuba could play for either Argentina or Cuba. If you participated in the last cup and did not play for one of these countries or feel you should have the right to be playing for another country due to strong family heritage or another reason, please contact an admin immediately.

Players wishing to sign up must state the following:
  • Name
  • Country
  • Position
  • Whether or not you have voice comms (please specify: TS2, Ventrilo, mic/no mic)
  • Current StdAS clan

Please also be kind enough to fill out the poll designating which country you'll play for. This will help Captains pick teams later knowing who is in each country and this will also help us see how many players each country has and whether a country is elligible to have a team

Signups will continue until March 21st which will give us plenty of time to promote the IAC and completely update the website as well as giving ample time to set up teams before the IAC scheduled start in May. The cup should last until late June or early July. Any questions feel free to join #IAC on irc.utassault.net or feel free to join and idle there.

So come one, come all, and sign up for the 2007 International Assault Cup! Tell your friends

__________________________________________________ _____________________________________

The poll is currently closed. Sign-ups have "officially" ended. It appears that we'll have enough for a cup. Sign-ups may still continue however. If someone would like to join a team please contact that country team or post here.

Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Scotland and Spain still need to recruit more in order to qualify for having their own team. So far countries not qualifying for teams are:

Austria - 1 more player signed up - Austria qualifies for a team!
Canada - 1 more player needed to qualify
Croatia - Unable to qualify
Czech Republic - 5 more players needed to qualify - (-Api- may sign up)

EAC Outstanding Games + DEADLINES

Posted by: X-Bomb (Tue, 14 Jun 2005 17:24:54Z)

[Posted: 14th] [Updated: 14th]
[Deadlines are midnight of the date shown]

Group Stages

Group A
All Done

Group B
All Done

Group C
All Done

Group D
All Done

Yellow Deadlines show when you must have the details for your match sorted, entered into the schedule and have a server to play it on. Failure to meet this deadline will result in an admin scheduling your match for you. If you think your match is in danger of not being arranged by this date then email x-bomb@so-lid.co.uk (Subject of the email= Unscheduled Games) with your prefered dates, times and league servers - the more you give the better chance you have of getting what you want. I am not a mind reader so also provide your nick, team, match pw, and your opponent clan name.

Red Deadlines as yellow, but if the clan in question does not contact a league admin to make progress or attempt to schedule the game(s) before the said date the red clan's matches will be forfeited and they will kicked out of the cup. contact/scheduling will result in extended deadline and downgrading to yellow.

If you spot any important mistakes such as wrong clans listed (and not just a lack of an update) let me know.

PLEASE POST IN THIS THREAD WHEN YOU HAVE ONE OF YOUR GAMES SCHEDULED, BECAUSE THERE IS SO MANY GAMES OUTSTANDING I CANNOT CHECK THE EAC WEBSITE TO SEE IF YOUR GAME HAS BEEN SCHEDULED OR NOT IT WILL TAKE ME AGES! WILL BE MUCH EASIER AND QUICKER IF YOU JUST POST HERE WHEN YOUR GAME IS BOOKED

[IMPORTANT] EAC Cup Draw

Posted by: X-Bomb (Tue, 31 May 2005 13:24:22Z)

Some of you will be wondering why the group tables havent been finalised and its 1 day before the tournament starts , the main reason is because ive sat back and listened to all suggestions to keep it fair yet competitive. After the initial draft some people complained it was too easy for the good teams and that the teams with lesser ability wont stand a chance, some people complained that they've been put in harder groups then others. Some people said that the draw should be random. To combat some of these problems we introduced the 2nd league bracket. This means once the group phase is complete most teams will be able to fight other teams on the same skill level as themselves. The 1st and 2nd of each group play in the winners bracket, the 3rd and 4th of each group play in the 2nd league bracket. Both brackets have a shiny trophy at the end of them and should be considered equal. (heavyweight and lightweight like boxing)

THE FINAL DRAW FOR EAC GROUP PHASE WILL BE DONE LIVE TONIGHT @ 8PM

CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE DRAW

Join #UTA-EAC for comments about the draw

im working on a php script that will randomly select teams, i will post a url for the draw once ive completed it and you will be able to follow the draw through. I hope to have a test run beforehand to prove that the draw is random, as i know there is a lot of people who are sceptical about these random draws. I cannot guarantee that i will have the script complete as im not a php god so dont be suprised if its not complete, but ill try my best.

Now before you moan about random draws, the draw will be under the following structure (and i will explain why i chose this method to draw at the end):

Seedings:
Top 4 Seeds:
England 1
Germany 1
Netherlands 1
Sweden 1

Next 8 Seeds:
Belgium
Denmark
England 2
France/Poland
Netherlands 2
Netherlands 3
Scotland
Sweden 2

The Rest:
Austria/Switzerland
England 3
Germany 2
Norway/Finland
Portugal/Spain
USA

1. The top 4 seeds will be drawn first and placed into different groups (A,B,C,D)

2. The next 8 seeds will be drawn 1 at a time and placed into a different group each time (A,B,C,D)
if a country has two teams in the same group when this part is done, the team just picked will be put in the next group and the next team to be picked will be placed in the group they just got moved from (hope this makes sense)

3. The rest will be picked and placed into different groups (A,B,C,D)

At the end of the draw teams 1 and 2 from the same country cannot be in the same group, teams 2 and 3 from the same country cannot be in the same group, but teams 1 and 3 from the same country CAN be in the same group.

Explanation for this draw:
The main reason for the seedings is to insure that 2,3 or even 4 highly skilled teams arent placed into the same group, it wont be fair on the other teams in that group as they wont stand a chance. And if they are placed into the same group then 1 or 2 will finish in 3rd or 4th and they will be placed in the second league bracket which again is unfair on all the other teams who get placed in that bracket.

Since the top 2 qualify from each group the "next 8 seeds" all have a good chance of qualifying from the group into the Winners bracket!

and as for "the rest", its was very hard to pick between the next 8 seeds and the rest, most of the teams seem very equal so it shouldnt really make that much of a difference whether your in the "next 8" or "the rest".

I think this method is ok, everyone gets to play in an equally distibuted group, top teams can qualify and play other top teams in the knockouts, and lesser skilled teams go to the 2nd bracket and play teams of equal skill. There is a bit of randomness to keep it fair as well.

Please note, 2 groups will have only 4 teams and 2 groups will have 5 teams. If you are in the group of 5 its not certain that you will make the 2nd league bracket as the bracket can only accomadate 8 teams. Is simply down to the luck of the draw which group you are placed in. Anyway the two 4th placed teams in the groups of 4 will play the two 5th placed teams in the group of 5 for the spot on the 2nd league bracket!

A New Rule:
You can only add to your team if you have played less then 2 EAC matches, you may not add a player to your team after that

EAC Servers

Posted by: X-Bomb (Tue, 24 May 2005 16:23:29Z)

A notice to all countries/teams the rules state that you may only play on an official EAC server unless you can agree on an alternative.

In the knockout stages each country plays 2 matches - a home match and a away match (alternatively you can agree on a neutral server).

I know that some countries would like to play on their home country server for the home match, if this is the case you need to be able to provide a server before Friday 6th June.

The requirements are:

1. The server should be stable
2. The server should be setup correctly
3. Skin Packs Installed (more details on this soon)
4. The server can be booked by ANY country/team in the EAC so it needs to be avail when matches have been booked on it.
5. Must be able to provide EAC admins with webadmin details or as a minimum have the server setup so that LeagueAS Admin Tool works on it and provide the details for the admin tool.

If you want your server in the EAC and can fufill the requirements please message Me(only forum pm please) or Anti.

The Current Official Servers Are:

League Server 1 (Netherlands, Gothica.NL)
League Server 2 (Netherlands, Gothica.NL)
League Server 3 (Netherlands, Gothica.NL)
League Server 4 (Netherlands, Gameservers.net)
League Server 5 (Netherlands, Gameservers.net)
League Server 6 (UK, Digifrag.co.uk)
League Server 7 (Germany, NGZ-server.de)
(-8-) Server (UK, Digifrag.co.uk)
RES Server (Netherlands, X3MServers.net)
Sweden Server (Sweden, Gametown)
